When Benjamin Franklin was asked what kind of government the newly-formed United States would have, he famously replied, “A Republic, if you can keep it.”
From the very beginning of this nation, freedom has been under attack, and if we do not constantly engage in fighting for it and protecting it, our rights will be eroded.
Those rights enshrined in our Constitution must be defended: free speech, freedom of religion, the right to keep and bear arms, the right to life and private property — these are all under attack by the radical left.
How do we protect them? First by electing leaders committed to protecting them. Second, we must hold our leaders’ feet to the fire and demand that the engage and fight at all costs to restore our nation to where we were when we were first founded — one nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all.
My son, Brandon, was killed by an illegal immigrant in 2007.
Biden and Harris, along with the radical left, are pursuing an Open Borders policy, flooding criminal aliens into this country who are wreaking havoc on the the safety of our communities. There have been violent murders, rapes, child abuse, drug proliferation all due to this ridiculously bad policy for our country.
The illegal immigrant who killed my son and had been deported twice before that. He served only a two-year sentence and was deported again.
In my son’s honor and on behalf of the other Angel Families in this country, I have been fighting to do what we can in Florida to stop illegal immigration. I sponsored the E-Verify legislation of 2023 that is helping to stop illegal aliens from being employed in Florida’s businesses, and I have been working to help stop government benefits for illegals so that we can turn off the financial magnets that draw them into this country in the first place.
I also applaud Gov. Ron DeSantis for sending members of the Florida Guard to the Texas border. If Washington won’t act, great leaders in the states must do so, and that is what we are doing here in Florida.
One of the top issues facing Florida’s families this year has been the rising cost of property insurance. It affects everyone from homeowners to renters and almost every consumer as small businesses have to raise the prices of their goods and services to pay for this expense.
There have been three main factors driving up the cost of insurance, and believe it or not, it is not storms. The factors are fraud, litigation, and inflation.
At the state level, we have done what we can to put some reasonable legislation in place to stop fraud and frivolous lawsuits. Unfortunately, Joe Biden’s inflation and federal price fixing have had a nationwide impact on the replacement costs for homes and apartments.
We must be patient and continue to look for ways to bring the cost of property insurance with the levers we have at the state level, and then we need to send Joe Biden and Kamala Harris into permanent retirement in November. That will help ease inflation and should bring rates back down in Florida and even across the country.
Just four years ago, we were at the apex of the “Defund the Police” movement. This is a terrible policy idea but one that is fully embraced by the liberal radicals in Washington and other liberal cities and states.
The effect of this concept has been devastating in the places where it is implemented. Think of the skyrocketing crime and violence in places like San Francisco, Portland, Minneapolis, Chicago, and New York City.
Governor DeSantis has led on this issue by finding more funding for our police, deputies, and other public safety personnel. We also passed legislation that stiffened the penalties for rioting and looting as a means of discouraging the mob violence that the radical groups like Antifa have used to try to send political messages.
I also had the honor of working with our sheriffs to file legislation to stop organized street racing and the violence that goes right along with that activity.
I will always defend and promote legislation that supports our first responders and maintains the safety of neighborhoods that we expect for the most vulnerable in our society.
My husband served in the Navy for 20 years, and I believe that we must continue making Florida the most hospitable state in the country for our veterans and their families.
The wealthiest Country in the world has money for illegal immigrants, for paying people to stay at home, and for massively expanding government, and yet we still have veterans living on the streets, and the suicide rate for Veterans is inexcusable.
I have worked hard to fight for more funding for Florida’s state veterans nursing homes and for the tax breaks and scholarships that they and their families deserve.
During the course of the Covid meltdown, parents became much more in tune with what their children were being taught in public schools, and they did not like it.
Radical transgenderism, filthy books in libraries, and racist indoctrination were just a few of the major complaints in what has become known as the parents’ movement.
In Florida, we have taken a stand for parents and passed legislation to get the inappropriate books out of libraries, stop woke indoctrination, and protect girls’ sports from being completely destroyed by biological males.
The left wants to silence our parents’ voices in schools and colleges.
I will continue to fight to make our classrooms world-class harbors for learning not a pulpit for Marxism.
